भारत में मेडिटेशन यानि ध्यान को जीवन में आध्यात्म से जोड़ कर देखा जाता है. वहीं चीन पिछले 20 सालों से देश में फालुनगो मेडिटेशन करने वालों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई कर रहा है. जानकार मानते हैं कि सरकार इसे वैचारिक खतरा समझती है.

चीन के एक अपार्टमेंट में पद्मासन की मुद्रा में चुपचाप बैठी महिलाएं अपनी बांहों को हल्के-हल्के घुमाती हैं. यह दृश्य अब चीन में शायद ही दिखे क्योंकि सार्वजनिक जीवन से फालुनगो मेडिटेशन (ध्यान) करीब-करीब गायब हो गया है. यह उन दिनों की भी याद दिलाता है जब 1999 में इस पर प्रतिबंध लगने से पहले फालुनगो समूह ने अपने साथ करीब 7 करोड़ लोगों के होने का दावा किया था. जिसके बाद पुलिस को इसके खिलाफ कार्रवाई करने का आदेश दिया गया.

20 साल बाद भी फालुनगो मेडिटेशन पर भरोसा करने वाले इस पर अड़े हुए हैं. अधिकार समूह कहते हैं कि चीन में इसे मानने वालों को अब भी गिरफ्तारी और यातनाओं से जूझना पड़ता है. जब हालात अच्छे थे तब फालुनगो से जुड़े सदस्य पार्कों में मिलते-जुलते और क्विगोंग मेडिटेशन करते. चीनी दर्शनशास्त्र और चिकित्सा पद्धति से प्रेरित क्विगोंग, व्यायाम से जुड़े तरीकों की चर्चा करता है. अब लोग ये सब कुछ चारदीवारों के भीतर करते हैं.

फालुनगो करने वाली एक महिला कहती है, “इससे मुझे कोई फर्क नहीं पड़ता कि कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी कैसे इसे दबाती है, मैं इस पर ज्यादा नहीं सोचना चाहती. लेकिन मैं वही करुंगी जो मैं करना चाहती हूं.” सरकार की ओर से उठाए कदमों का विरोध करने के लिए साल 1999 में करीब 10 हजार फालुनगो सदस्य इकट्ठा हुए थे. लेकिन उस वक्त के राष्ट्रपति जियांग जेमिन ने उस समूह को खत्म करने के आदेश दिए और उसे “बुरा पंथ” घोषित किया.

जानकार मानते हैं कि ऐसा इसलिए कहा गया ताकि दमन की कार्रवाई को बाद में सही ठहराया जा सके. इस पूरे मूवमेंट पर कनाडा की मानिटोबा यूनिवर्सिटी में रिसर्च कर रही प्रोफेसर मारिया चिउंग कहती हैं, “वरिष्ठ अधिकारी और सरकार फालुनगो को वैचारिक और राजनीतिक खतरा” मानते हैं. उन्होंने कहा कि साल 1999 का प्रदर्शन, लोकतंत्र के लिए चीन के तियानमेन चौक पर 1989 के प्रदर्शन के बाद हुआ सबसे बड़ा प्रदर्शन था.

इतना ही नहीं चीनी प्रशासन ने इस विरोध के बाद “610 ऑफिस” नाम के एक स्पेशल सिक्युरिटी ब्यूरो को लॉन्च किया, जिसका मकसद फालुनगो से जुड़े लोगों को दबाना था. अधिकार समूह और फालुनगो मानने वाले लोग जुल्म और यातनाओं की शिकायत करते हैं. इससे जुड़े लोग दिल दहला देने वाले अनुभव बयान करते हैं. एक महिला ने बताया कि स्थानीय प्रशासन ने उसके पिता पर दबाव बनाया ताकि वह उसकी छोटी बहन को मारें-पीटें, क्योंकि उसकी बहन ध्यान की इस प्रक्रिया पर भरोसा करती थी.

मॉन्ट्रियाल यूनिवर्सिटी में इतिहास के प्रोफेसर डेविड ओनवाये कहते हैं कि ऐसे पंथ चीन में इसलिए पनपे क्योंकि आधिकारिक रूप से नास्तिक राज्य अपनी धार्मिक परंपराओं को दबाने में सफल रहा. फालुनगो मानने वाली एक महिला ने बताया कि समाज और परिवार के साथ असंतुष्टि ने उसे ध्यान की ओर मोड़ा. रोक टोक की तमाम कोशिशों के बाद भी फालुनगो दबे-छुपे चीन में पनप रहा है. वहीं 70 देशों में इस ध्यान पद्धति को मानने वाले हैं. वहीं चीन की कोशिश हर कीमत पर फालुनगो को खत्म करने की है और इसी उद्देश्य से देश में कई डिपार्टमेंट काम भी कर रहे हैं. अमेरिकी वॉचडॉग फ्रीडम हाउस के मुताबिक, चीन में जनवरी 2013 से जून 2016 के बीच अब तक करीब 900 ऐसे लोगों को जेल भेजा जा चुका है जो फालुनगो के समर्थक थे.
